Power Packed Oils

Why are Carrier & Essential Oils so Special?

Experts are recommending the use of oils on your skin to seal in moisture. It acts like a barrier to help hydrate your skin. Either by using them on their own or as the last part of your skincare regime.

With a combination of plant oils like sweet almond, wheatgerm, apricot kernel, jojoba, carrot, borage and essential oils they are power packed to deliver emollient, occlusives and humectants - the 3 ingredients you need to moisturise and hydrate your skin.

You not only need to moisturise, you need to seal in that moisture and oil does that magnificently.

7 Reasons why you should start using oils on your skin:

  1. They can reduce lines

Too much unprotected ultraviolet light is a set-up for free radical damage — and that means wrinkles and sunspots galore.

Facial oils are packed with antioxidants, which prevent further ageing and reduce the appearance of sunspots.

  1. They are good for dry skin

Plummeting temps and cranked-up heaters suck moisture straight from the skin.

Oils are the ideal antidote to dry, flaky skin and rough, rosy cheeks — and they can be much more effective at moisturising than your standard over-the-counter lotions and creams.

  1. They’re the perfect primer for makeup.

Oils can zip through the top of skin at lightening quick speed, quickly settling comfortably into the areas that need hydrating the most. This gives an immediate plumping effect and creates the perfect canvas for your makeup — and the smoother your skin, the better your whole face will look.

  1. They can shrink enlarged pores.

Higher-end oils such as jojoba, apricot kernel actually pull out grime and fats from pores, making them appear smaller and less noticeable . Unfortunately, oils readily available at the general stores can give you clogged, puffed-out pores.

  1. They really protect your skin.

Because oils are lipophilic, they can penetrate deep into the skin, trapping water and other moisturising goodness in, while keeping toxins and other bad stuff out. Some oils also help to fortify and strengthen your own natural skin barrier. This is especially important for big city dwellers who need extra protection against pollutants and smog, a known source of unwanted wrinkles. concentrated with antioxidant ingredients, would be a definite win-win.

  1. They can calm down rashes.

Many oils have anti-inflammatory properties as well, helping to quell irritated skin. Geranium essential oil is fabulous at reducing redness from rosacea.

  1. They’re great for banishing zits.

Believe it or not, essential oils are pretty darn good zit zappers. And no, you won't get more pimples if you use oils.

Carrot oil balances out dry or oily skin and giving it enough moisture without clogging pores.

Facial oils are now made in very cosmetically elegant, light formulations that are excellent for layering and everyday use. Just keep in mind that a small amount goes a long way.

Our Rejuvenating facial oil has essential oils of lemon, rosemary and frankincense to balance oil production.

What are essential oils?

They are concentrated extractions from plants. A process called distillation turns the “essence” of a plant into a liquefied form for many medicinal and recreational uses.

An essential oil is ‘essential’ in the sense that it contains the ‘essence of’ the plant’s fragrance – the characteristic fragrance of the plant from of which it is derived.

Essential oils are called ‘oils’ because they contain the oil-soluble chemicals in the plant ( usually 100-200 chemicals per essential oil). This complex chemistry gives essential oils their therapeutic properties and explains why different essential oils may have overlapping effects.

They have been used for centuries in herbal, culinary and cosmetic applications and go way back to ancient times.
